GIVINGTREE BENEFIT SHOP MISSION STATEMENT

Founded by the Community Church of the Monterey Peninsula's Women's
Association in October 2014, Givingtree Benefit Shop will promote Christian
fellowship and give needed assistance to our church and community.

Objectives:

• Givingtree Benefit Shop will provide a warm and welcoming environment in
which new shoppers and donors may be attracted to Community Church.

• Givingtree Benefit Shop will provide a charitable and tax deductible way for
members of the community to donate items that can benefit others. Some
donations are given directly to local homeless programs, for example, I-Help,
Goodwill, Salvation Army, and Dorothy’s Place.

• After meeting shop expenses, operational and facility needs of the church,
we support community organizations and charitable causes approved by the
Givingtree Benefit Shop Committee, Women’s Association and Board of
Governors of Community Church of the Monterey Peninsula.

Funds will be disbursed quarterly.  Organizations supported by the first
disbursement of Givingtree funds included Animal Friends Rescue Project,
Central Coast VNA, Church Women United, Community Human Services,
Food Bank of Monterey County, Interim, Inc., Central Coast HIV/AIDS
Services, Monterey County Rape Crisis Center, Nancy’s Project (migrant
ministry),
Women Alive! at Dorothy’s Place in Salinas, and YWCA of
Monterey County (for battered women).
